Still in his early twenties, Nigel Stewart is a Canadian drummer from Hamilton, Ontario. Playing drums since the age of eight, he is constantly on the pursuit to reach a higher level of drumming and musicality. Growing up playing in punk bands, he was introduced to jazz in high school and has gone on to study at Mohawk College under notable Canadian drummers such as Anthony Michelli and Kevin Dempsey.
Nigel is currently performing with the Alex Whorms Band and The Hidden Valley Antechamber Orchestra. Stay tuned for other projects in the works.
In the past, Nigel has been on two albums with high-energy punk trio Carpenteers – 2014’s Disposable and 2016’s Inerasable Memories. They have played at venues including, but not limited to, Avante-Garde Bar in Ottawa, Baltimore House, This Ain’t Hollywood, and the Casbah in Hamilton, the Mansion in Kingston, and the Hard Luck Bar in Toronto. Safe Kind of High, an online music journal based out of England wrote about Carpenteers’ music, saying “It’s got all the hooks of great pop music as well as all the grit needed to cause sufficient levels of sonic chaos.”
